Heat Recovery Units for Roularta Printing

Geurts supplied three Heat Recovery Units (HRUs) to Roularta Printing, one of the leading offset printing companies in the Benelux. The company sought a sustainable way to utilize remaining process heat, and Geurts provided a solution that integrates seamlessly into their existing production lines.

Recovering residual heat from drying ovens

Roularta’s printing lines feature ovens with integrated afterburners, which already reuse a substantial amount of process heat. To capture the remaining energy escaping through the drying oven chimneys, Geurts installed three HRUs directly on these exhaust lines. Because the afterburner section remains at temperature continuously, heat recovery is possible almost non-stop during production and between print orders.

Efficient use of recovered energy

The recovered heat is used to warm both the production hall and the publishing facilities of Roularta Media Group, significantly reducing energy consumption and operational costs.

The HRUs have been running reliably for an extended period with minimal downtime. A built-in by-pass ensures the production process always remains operational, even during fluctuations in heat demand. Installation and integration were completed smoothly, supported by clear communication and technical expertise from the Geurts team.
